Nota de alcance

PARTE UTILIZADA= Used part: Partes vegetativas.

ACCIÓN FARMACOLÓGICA= Pharmacological action: Anticefalálgico, anticatarral, anticonceptivo.

COMPOSICIÓN QUÍMICA= Chemical composition: Two new sesquiterpenes, 6alpha-hydroxyeudesm-4(15)-ene-9beta-O-anisate (I) and 1beta-hydroxyeudesma-4,11(13)-dien-12-oic acid (II), were isolated, together with damsinic acid and 1beta,6alpha-dihydroxyeudesm-4(15)-ene, from A. elatior (Compositae). The structures were detd. by chem. and spectroscopic methods. 1H-1H, 1H-13C and long-range 1H-13C 2-dimensional chem. correlation NMR analyses were carried out to confirm the structure of II.

ZONA GEOGRÁFICA= Geografical zone: desde E.U.A. hasta Argentina.

A crude ext. of short ragweed pollen was obtained by extn., centrifugation, dialysis and freeze-drying.  Crossed immunoelectrophoresis, with a high-titer purified rabbit antibody fraction, revealed that the ext. contained at least 52 antigens, of which 33 migrated toward the anode, 16 toward the cathode, and 3 toward both the anode and cathode.  The electrophoretic pptn. pattern indicated a great deal of electrophoretic heterogeneity in several of the antigens.  The overall distribution of apparent mol. wt. for 35 of the 52 antigens and the approx. mol. wt. for 19 identified antigens were detd. by a combination of gel filtration and immunochem. anal.  Among antigens with mol. wt. £10,000, 8 of 10 were basic; all 5 identified antigens with mol. wt. above 40,000 were acidic.  The apparent pl distribution for 30 antigens, and more precise pl values for 20 of 52 antigens, were detd. by means of sucrose-gradient isoelec. focusing.  The data obtained provide a reproducible ref. system of considerable use in ragweed allergen chem. and enable one to predict conditions for isolation of ragweed antigens.
